β€œThere is a Kate Bush song for every occasion..” - Natasha Kozaily (Boss Bush)

Whether you are a superfan or a casual listener of English artist and singer-songwriter Kate Bush, with her eclectic whirling of ten studio albums, iconic experimental videos, and dazzling bohemian persona, there is no denying her rare creative magic. A quasi-totemic guru for the ingenues and Baba Yagas alike (a close second only possibly to Stevie Nicks), it’s a well-known fact that Kate Bush, the illustrious art-pop maven, rarely tours (there was a brief residency in 2014, which came after a nearly 35 year hiatus), dashing the hopes of her followers of ever seeing her live. But alas Bush-lovers, do I have great news for you. Baby Bushka, an eight-piece all-female tribute ensemble hailing from San Diego, is here to regale you with all the Bushy vibes you’ll ever need. Members Natasha Kozaily (β€œBoss Bush”), Dr. Batya MacAdam-Somer (β€œBad Bush”), Dr. Leah Bowden (β€œHeavy Bush”), Nancy Elizabeth Ross (β€œFancy Bush”), Lexi Pulido (β€œHella Bush”), Heather Nation (β€œSugar Bush”), Marie Haddad (β€œMidnight Bush”) and Dani Bell (β€œMighty Bush” and whom is unfortunately departing the band after this tour), are not here to simply cover songs, but are a full-tilt live-action interpretative experience of all things lionhearted, inviting you into the world of Kate that they know and love so well. Reimagining chart-toppers like, β€œRunning Up That Hill”, β€œHounds Of Love”, β€œWuthering Heights”, and β€œBabooshka” or lesser-known rarities like β€œPull Out The Pin” and β€œThe Man With The Child In His Eyes”, Baby Bushka treats them all with absolute passion and tenderness. Theirs is a world not only of an endless supply of scarves, masks and various sundries, but of love and faith on the wing, taking flight wherever they go.

If you missed them, it’s too late to see these ladies in The U.S., (they leave for the UK shortly) but please, I beg of you, go find them and support them.

On a personal note, I would also like to honor and commemorate the passing of one of Baby Bushka’s key members, Leilani Deering (β€œDark Bush”) who died tragically and much too soon in 2020. The group’s set included a tear-rending memorial service, which included the songs, β€œAnd So Is Love”, β€œThis Woman’s Work” (which Leilani was known for singing), β€œMoments Of Pleasure” and "Love And Anger”. Though I didn’t know you, you are still loved. RIP.
