Me First & The Gimme Gimmes :: The Dwarves :: Mila Spigolon + The Tropical Follies (12/10/21)
The UC Theater, Berkeley
Gallery and Review by Fiestaban Photography
Itβs time for some punk rock boys and girls. The all-time best punk cover supergroup, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes decked some major halls and showed us their huge mistletoes at Berkeleyβs iconic UC Theater this Friday. From their wicked slam-dance versions of everything from Paula Abdulβs βStraight Upβ to Paul Simonβs βMe And Julio Down By The Schoolyardβ to Dolly Partonβs βJoleneβ to a jet-fueled βFeliz Navidadβ, it was as much utter pandemonium as it was a triumphant return for these San Francisco natives. With an all-star lineup of lead guitarist John "The Swami" Reis (of Rocket From The Crypt), drummer Andrew "Pinch" Pinching (of The Damned), rhythm guitar CJ Ramone (backing vocalist for The Ramones), bassist Jonny "2 Bags" Wickersham (of Social Distortion) and lead singer Spike Slawson, they brought the house down and everyone with them.
The Dwarves
The self-described βbest looking band in show businessβ The Dwarves are outrageous as they are loud, with songs like βSluts Of The USAβ and βFuck βEm Allβ and of course βLetβs Get High And Fuck Some Slutsβ. They are one of the last true hardcore punk bands with something to say, as long it involves sex, drugs and rock n roll.
Mila Spigolon + The Tropical Follies
No punk show would be complete without some dazzling beauties. The gorgeous Mila Spigolon and her Tropical Follies (Lola and Paloma Del Mar) brought the heat with their piquant musical revue.
