Faye Webster is an American singer-songwriter and musician known for her blend of indie folk, alternative rock, and R&B influences. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she came up with her laid-back, introspective songwriting and a unique sound that fuses elements of country, indie pop, and soft rock, often featuring steel guitar alongside smooth, soulful vocals. Her breakthrough album, Atlanta Millionaires Club (2019), brought her more widespread attention, thanks to standout tracks like “Kingston” and “Right Side of My Neck”. The album earned praise for its mix of retro and modern influences, as well as its emotional sincerity. In 2021, she released I Know I’m Funny haha, which further solidified her reputation as an artist capable of merging different genres while maintaining a distinctive voice. Her work often resonates with listeners drawn to intimate, mood-driven music with thoughtful, sometimes quirky lyrics.
Her show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on September 16, 2024, was a sold-out event that showcased her original musical style and captivating stage presence. In front of a talented band, she performed a set that seamlessly mixed indie, jazz, folk, and rock. Songs like "But Not Kiss," from her latest album Underdressed at the Symphony, brought an emotional depth to the performance.
The stage setup was laundromat themed, with brightly lit washing machines and whimsical projections reflected on a giant T-shirt. She included animations of Minions before and after the show which added a playful touch to the night. Memorable moments included dreamy performances like “Right Side of My Neck”, during which bubbles filled the stage and “He Loves Me Yeah!”, where she placed the word "he" with "she".
Webster had a strong ability to evoke strong emotions through her music that resonated deeply with the audience. Her mix of old favorites like “Jonny” with new songs kept the energy high throughout the evening, ending in a memorable encore.
Miya Folick is an up and coming indie singer/songwriter out of Los Angeles. She gained attention with her EPs, such as Strange Darling (2015) and Give It To Me (2017), before releasing her debut full-length album Premonitions in 2018. Folick’s music is often characterized by its raw vulnerability and thought-provoking themes, including relationships, identity, and self-discovery. Her unique background—being raised in a Buddhist household and her experiences as a queer artist—also influence her artistic perspective. She’s one to watch, with a distinctive voice and her ability to shift between tender, soft melodies to powerful, soaring vocals.
