Maybe you’ve seen her before…but if anyone knows how to put on a show, it’s Geneva Jacuzzi (Geneva Garvin). With her blending of the surreal and theatrical, she shows us how dangerous art really can be. Showcasing the release of her latest album, Triple Fire, Geneva presents her artistic expression through a timeless and ethereal genre of her own—one that blends music and performance and creates an experience unlike any other—including elaborate installation pieces and backup dancers.
Her magnetism powers this triple-act ancient Greek tragedy in ways that leave you breathless and leaning towards the stage, feeling as though it could just swallow you up and make you an accomplice to the allure before you. After seeing my first Geneva Jacuzzi show, I would be truly afraid to miss another.
Toucan
It runs in the family, but Geneva’s sister’s alter ego Toucan (aka Coco Lynn Garvin) is also something to behold and a wizard flutist. Creating a soundscape (in the vein of Cocteau Twins or Sigur Rós) from what she refers to as the “…darker part of the imagination”, she is as close as you can get to a synth-pop snake charmer.
Sayaka Nono
L.A.-based, neophytic and a perfect addition to the darkwave tribe that Geneva cultivates, Sayaka Nono is already blasting away with dance-ready tracks like “Anything Can Be Broken”.
Baseck
Steeped in the rave scene for over three decades, Baseck has been around the dance-block since the mid-90s. Kicking off the show with experimental electronica, the crowd was ready to party when Baseck hit the ones and twos.
