On Sunday, March 30th, local artist Poor Ridley played at Anodyne Coffee in the Walkers Point neighborhood of Milwaukee for the fourth show on their spring tour. In addition to Poor Ridley, the music of Eli Orion & The Everything and So Zuppy was showcased. As the show kicked off the bands milled about, greeting fans and friends who came out to support them.

Eli Orion & The Everything kicked off the show with their unique sound that blends the musicality of the Midwest Emo genre with a folk vibe. Their music, including their newest release Wilt, carried a sense of nostalgia and reflection. Eli Orion & the Everything will be releasing the song Stable soon, and have enjoyed their time with Poor Ridley on their very first tour.

Poor Ridley, the solo project of local artist Ridley Tankersley took the stage next, rocking the audience with their upbeat sound and quirky lyrics. While playing their high-energy song βCubs Winβ, the floor of the venue shook with the synchronous jumping of the crowd. I think the humor of Poor Ridley is perfectly summed up by a joke told by bassist Collin Pappenfuss between songs. βWhich knight made the round table?... Sir-Cumferenceβ¦β The set features songs from Poor Ridleyβs 2024 EP Songs I Wrote including βThe Longest Song Everβ, in which Eli Orion and the Everything joined them onstage to dance and collect a trophy that Ridley got them, congratulating them on completing their first tour. The set closed with a brand new unrecorded/unreleased song from Poor Ridley called βWhitehead and McFaddenβ. Going to a Poor Ridley show feels like making a new inside joke while dancing and laughing with all of your closest friends.

Local indie rock band So Zuppy closed out the show with a set full of moody rock songs that got the crowd dancing and swaying along to the Elliott Smith-esque grooves. If you are a fan of the band Basement, youβd love So Zuppyβs new song βUngratefulβ. Other songs played, including βB.B. Gunβ, utilized catchy guitar riffs and somber melodies that hooked the audience in.
Their set ended with frontman Micah Foust playing a beautiful acoustic song that told the story of a hen chopping off the head of her husband.

These three artists from Wisconsin made magic happen on the stage at a local coffee shop, bringing together local music lovers and friends for a night of fun, laughter, and feeling.
