Rainbow Kitten Surprise is an indie rock band that combines folk, pop, and alternative rock with emotionally charged lyrics and dynamic musical arrangements.  Formed in 2013 in Boone, North Carolina, the band initially started when founding members Ela Melo (lead vocalist) and Darrick “Bozzy” Keller (guitarist) began collaborating while in college.  The band’s unique name came about in an impromptu manner, suggested by a friend who was on morphine after surgery.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise gained early attention with their debut album, Seven + Mary (2013), and built a fanbase through energetic live performances and their mix of introspective storytelling and catchy melodies.  Their sound is made of harmonies and sharp lyrical content.  The band’s ability to balance fun, infectious rhythms with darker, deeper themes has resonated with a wide audience.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise's Nashville show on 10/19 was a powerful and energetic live performance.
