L.A. Punk is back with style for Kate Clover and her backing dapper lads at San Francisco’s Make-Out Room. If you haven’t seen her before, don’t underestimate her petite frame—she is coming for every square millimeter of your eardrums and every square inch of your venue. Having moved from a slightly more rockabilly Wanda-Jackson-meets-Blondie sound before the pandemic, her new album “Bleed Your Heart Out” is the original late-70’s Angeleno punk scene writ-small, borrowing from bands such as X (Clover’s cover of their “Your Phone’s Off The Hook, But You’re Not” is every bit as gritty as the original), The Adolescents, The X-Ray Spex or even The Buzzcocks. It is brash and raucous, with an undertone which implores visionaries to return to their visions. If you haven’t caught this femme-phenom before, her outfit (including boyfriend Brandon Welchez of Crocodiles) will be touring again later this year.
