Wondering what to do on a Thursday night this September? Need to shake off the week and get ready for the weekend? You need to check out the weekly residency of electronic dance trio CBLS (pronounced “cables”) at the Fillmore District’s intimate Boom Boom Room. With a ready-mix sound of Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem and New Order, CBLS is funky and hypnotic, opening their weekly showcase along with other various featured and headlining artists. Last week’s lineup was multi-instrumentalist and rhythm-delay phenom Joel Kellogg (whom at one point seamlessly enmeshed Talking Heads, George Benson and Loverboy’s “Turn Me Loose” into a walking-baseline spectacular), followed by Skrillex-level local DJ TY:MORE made for a night of glow-sticks and good times.
