The Last Dinner Party :: Daiistar (3/21/24)

Formed in 2021, The Last Dinner Party is an all-female band, fresh from London, England and full of spunk. It’s five members, Abigail Morris (vocals), Georgia Davies (bass), Aurora Nishevci (keys), Lizzie Mayland (rhythm guitar), and Emile Robberts (lead guitar), from start to finish, held a tight grip on the audience's attention at The Historic Scoot Inn in Austin TX. The Last Dinner Party has an amazing live sound—something akin to an ensemble Kate Bush or Florence And The Machine—their harmonies beautifully translating from their studio recordings. Morris has a very bold presence as well, making crowd participation effortless. While most of their songs are very upbeat, they do have some slow, more melancholic ballads (see: “Gjuha”), which Morris deemed, "the weeping zone", telling the crowd that if anyone needed to cry or be sad, to get it out now because later, “there will only be time to dance”. Even though the show was unfortunately cut short due to an incoming lightning storm, TLDP still made sure to play an unreleased song, “Second Best”, as well as their most popular track, “Nothing Matters”.
