Thereβs no show like a SIAMΓS show. The excitement at Echoplex could hardly be contained Wednesday night, and anyone could agree. Giving not one, but two encores, the energetic Argentine ensemble poured their hearts out on stage via dance and groovy electropop. For their opening song, SIAMΓS played βThe Phoenixβ, the first track off of Melodramatic, their latest album. Joining the set from Melodramatic were hits including βMy Little Oneβ, which was my personal favorite, and βAlone in the Darknessβ, which was written about the bandβs struggles with mental health, and meant to help you ββ¦think about the better things in lifeβ¦β according to pianist Juan Manuel Kokollo. SIAMΓS is like one big family, and when you see them perform, you feel no separation. Dancing and singing was constantly encouraged, and watching each member of the band put everything into their performance left you with no choice but to join in on the fun in any way you could. βWe have this life to live, and we should live it the way we want,β vocalist Barbie Williams expressed, βRespecting each other and respecting ourselves, because we need to be true to ourselves.β She later hopped down from the stage into the audience with us, along with fellow vocalist Sergio Bufi. The party raged on, and for the encore, the band played some older favorites, like βThe Wolfβ and βMr. Fearβ. βThe bass is the best!β yelled a front row audience member. Bassist Mariano Lanus smiled in response, and a couple songs later gifted her with his guitar pick. Playing drums for the first time in Los Angeles, Martu Fontana joined in on the giving when fans asked for her drum sticks, which she happily tossed into the crowd before coming down for high fives as well. At the end, everyone including skilled guitarist Gonzalo Nicolas Gallo came to the front of the stage for a final bow, soaking in endless cheers from the crowd. Los Angeles was only SIAMΓSβ first stop of the βMelodramaticβ tour in North America, with more dates this month in Europe. But if you missed it this time, donβt worry because they will be back!
